Cookies and Storage Notice
ShellAccess currently uses a minimal amount of browser-side storage. This page explains what is stored, why it is used, and what is not currently present on the site.
Current browser-side storage used by ShellAccess
rt.portal.auth
Type: first-party authentication cookie
Purpose: keeps a signed-in portal session active after you authenticate.
Security attributes: HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict.
Lifetime: sliding session window up to 12 hours of inactivity, with an absolute maximum of 30 days.
Why it is used: this cookie is required to provide the authenticated service you explicitly asked to use.
rt-theme
Type: browser local storage
Purpose: remembers your chosen light or dark theme for the public site and portal UI.
Lifetime: until you change the theme or clear site storage in your browser.
Why it is used: to preserve a user interface preference you explicitly selected.
What ShellAccess does not currently use
- no advertising cookies or remarketing tags;
- no third-party social media pixels;
- no behavioural profiling or cross-site tracking cookies; and
- no analytics cookies are currently wired into the public website or portal codebase.
Consent and future changes
ShellAccess currently treats the authentication cookie as strictly necessary for signed-in portal use. The only other browser-side persistence currently present is the theme preference stored in localStorage.
If ShellAccess adds any non-essential cookies or similar technologies in future, this notice will be updated first and the site will add an appropriate consent flow before those technologies are enabled.
How to manage or remove this storage
- sign out of the portal to end the active authentication session;
- clear site data or cookies in your browser to remove stored values; and
- contact hello@shellaccess.io if you need help understanding the current storage behaviour.
